Kate Bailey - President
My name is Kate Bailey and I am the President of Spartan Spectrum. I am a Senior at MSU this year, and I am pursuing dual degrees in Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology. My home away from MSU is Commerce Township, Michigan. My end goal is to become an occupational therapist, and I hope to specifically focus on autism spectrum disorders. My connection to autism is my younger brother Josh - he is both my inspiration and my best friend! I have also been working in the MSU Autism Lab for almost 3 years and have recently helped publish a paper about a parent-mediated autism intervention. I am extremely excited for Spartan Spectrum this year -- I hope to see you at our events!
Jaclyn Kyko - Vice President
My name is Jaclyn Kyko and I am from Troy, MI. I am a Senior at MSU, majoring in Human Biology planning to attend graduate school. A concern of mine has always been about discrimination against people who, for some reason, are different. I was particularly touched when I learned that individuals diagnosed with Autism actually have more characteristics in common with their mainstream peers than differences that affect their lives. I am interested in helping to better understand how differences can be turned into positive attributes. People should be respected for who they are. My hobbies include playing the flute and piccolo and playing with my English Springer Spaniel, Lily. A fun fact about myself is that I love interior decorating.
Susheela Sreedhar - Secretary and Public Relations Coordinator
My name is Susheela Sreedhar and I’m from Okemos, MI. I am a junior at MSU, pursuing a Neuroscience degree and minors in Cognitive Science and Philosophy. In the future I hope to attend medical school and become a physician. I learned about how underserved individuals diagnosed with Autism are in our community and often how misinformed people are about Autism. This is something I want to help change. In my free time I enjoy reading, doing yoga, and spending time with friends.
Sagar Rathod - Treasurer and Webmaster
My name is Sagar Rathod. I am from Okemos, MI. I am currently a Junior at Michigan State University pursuing a Double Major in Human Biology and Neuroscience, as well as Minors in Philosophy and Pharmacology and Toxicology. I aspire to join an M.D/Ph.D program to specialize in Neurosurgery and Neurodegenerative Diseases. My connection to Autism was when I tutored a student with ASD in high school. My hobbies include Tennis, Debate, eating Chipotle and Taco Bell, and binge-watching TV.
Mariah Cantlin - Mutual Mentorship Program Coordinator
My name is Mariah Cantlin and I am the Mutual Membership Program Coordinator. I am a Senior studying Secondary Education, with a Major in English and a Minor in TESOL. I am from Jackson, MI. When I graduate, I hope to be a middle school or high school English teacher, while pursuing a Master's Degree in Special Education and K-12 Administration. Both of my parents are Special Education teachers, so I grew up in their classrooms. I think people sometimes have one thing in their mind about Autism and what it is, and it's important to raise awareness and break those barriers, especially in schools and with young people. In my free time, I like to go camping, listen and play music, and try new things.
Holly Semma - Founder
My name is Holly Semma and I am the Founder of Spartan Spectrum. During the first few weeks of my freshman year, one of the first student organizations I wanted to join was an autism awareness student organization. I became surprised that one did not already exist. Therefore, I founded Spartan Spectrum in Summer 2013 through the help of RCPD. My younger brother is my personal connection to autism. and has been an inspiration to me in many ways. My career goal is to become a physician who serves the community with a focus on the autism spectrum disorders population. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
